INTRO
Modern United Nations is about, you could say, a simulation of a United Nations panel, but the participants are students, each representing a country as a delegate of said country. The purpose of this project was for the youth to learn about a country, and be a delegate and act like the country would, and come up with solutions to certain crisis and world problems.
I, myself, was the delegate representing Saudi Arabia in the United Nations committee of UNHCR(United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), the committee in charge of the right of refugees and acting for any crisis on refugees that may come. I was worried at first because Saudi Arabia because, all I been told about it, is that Saudi Arabia is one of the most unfair places, so I expected that they wanted nothing to do with this situation, so I thought that this was going to be a problem for when the conference would happen. But after researching some, I found out the complete opposite.

SAUDI ARABIA SAYS CRITICISM OF SYRIA REFUGEE RESPONSE 'FALSE AND MISLEADING'
SAUDI AMBASSADOR: KINGDOM IN TRANSFORMATION
WHAT SAUDI ARABIA IS (AND ISN'T) DOING IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THE ISLAMIC STATE
This three links gave basically all the information I needed.
The first article surprised me at first, Saudi Arabia explained how the country is not taking refugees, but it's not because they don't want them, is because they did not signed the Convention on Refugees there for are not treated as such, but are treated as normal civilians and get residency permits to live in Saudi Arabia.
The second one told me the story of how the country is actually changing for the better, and how they are doing it and disprove criticism that they get every single day.
The third article talks about what Saudi Arabia is doing against the ISIS, and they are trying to push them back and terminate the, but instead get criticism about how they are not different from ISIS fro their own government(which in the second article says is actually changing) and how they try to help but are tangled up in their problems.

POSITION PAPER
My first draft of my position paper was merely one page long and I found it pretty good. But the next day we received tips about how to write a position paper; one of the tips was to not talk about our country in the introduction(first) paragraph, which unfortunately I did, the first paragraph was more of a emotional opening explaining why the problem was so important, I did, but I explained why it was important in my country. So I had to delete it all and start again, and this time it turn out a little bit better than the first one, but I think I rather had the first one, but, it was correct so I didn't keep it.
Of this piece the part I'm most proud of is the second and fourth paragraph; the second paragraph was about the situation in my country, full of facts, and the fourth was the final about how my country have tried to find solutions and what I thought could help.

OPENING SPEECH
My first draft wasn't bad, but it was too long and went over the time limit, so I decided to cut some of it, one of the small paragraphs. My opening speech wasn't anything especial, it kind of looked like the first paragraph of my position paper.
I wouldn't really change anything, but, if I were to have more time to do my opening speech, I would add more facts about my country and refugees because I know that if I this, the speech would be longer.

CONFERENCE
Personally I'm really proud of myself for actually talking in the conference, since Saudi Arabia did not signed the Convention on Refugees, I thought I would not talk at all because the conference was about the refugee crisis. But, turns out, I actually felt like I needed to input my opinion, because Saudi Arabia does care about the refugees, and I felt as if Saudi Arabia would not stay silent as the other countries tried to find solution and other closed their borders to refugees.
I would raise my plaque time and time again, giving my opinion and my offers of solutions. At one time, the delegate from Greece accused Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Myanmar for being inhumane and paying for refugees(the crisis was that Maldives was slowly sinking and we had to get them out, our solution was to pay Maldives, the closest country to Maldives, to get them out because the delegate would not have it otherwise) and how Greece would help even thought their economy was failing; I stood up at that and explained how I was paying to get all the Maldivians I could out of their sinking country, even thought my own economy is suffering from trying the change and become independent of oil based economy that Iran is not accepting and might end up in war if not solved.

A FUNNY MOMENT
A funny moment was when we started to make a consultation of a whole(when EVERYONE needs to talk) and we were going to start alphabetically, but Afghanistan was eating so we had to start from the other side.
Another one was when Turkey came in late and was confused, so much that when doing role call, he didn't know what was happening and was just standing there with his placard as a name tag and almost started to walk towards the chairs for his actual name tag with it and everyone had to tell him to leave it on his table and just go up to the chairs.
